Engine oil inspection
- 1Be sure the vehicle is on level ground.
- 2Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and stop it.
- 3Wait for five minutes.
- 4Remove the oil level gauge and check the oil level and condition.
05U0DX-036 - 5Add or replace oil as necessary.
NOTE
The distance between the L and F marks on the level gauge represents 0.8 liter (0.85 US qt, 0.70 Imp qt).
REPLACEMENT
WARNING
Be careful when draining; the oil is hot.
Engine oil replacement
- 1Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and stop it.
- 2Remove the oil filler cap and the oil pan drain plug.
05U0DX-011 - 3Drain the oil into a suitable container.
- 4Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
- 5Refill the engine with the specified type and amount of engine oil.
05U0DX-012 - 6Refit the oil filler cap.
- 7Run the engine and check for leaks.
- 8Check the oil level and add oil if necessary.

OIL FILTER
REPLACEMENT
Oil filter replacement
- 1Remove the oil filter with a suitable wrench.
05U0DX-013 - 2Use a clean rag to wipe off the mounting surface on the engine.
- 3Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the rubber seal of the new filter.
- 4Install the oil filter and tighten it by hand until the rubber seal contacts the base.
- 5Tighten the filter 1 and 1/6 turn with a filter wrench.
05U0DX-014 - 6Start the engine and check for leaks.
- 7Check the oil level and add oil if necessary.
