Clutch disc

Clutch disc installation

    Clean the clutch disc splines and main drive gear splines, and apply Mori White TA No.2 or equivalent organic molybdeum grease.
    Clutch disc installation. Disc held in flywheel with SST 49 SE01 310 (centering tool) labeled at top and 49 E301 060 labeled at bottom of the SST.

    Hold the clutch disc in position with the SST.

    Install the SST.
    Clutch cover installation. Shows clutch cover with numbered bolts 1-6 indicating the tightening pattern, with SST 49 SE01 310 and 49 E301 060 labeled.

    Align the dowel holes with the flywheel dowels.
  3. 3
    Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually in the pattern shown.

RELEASE BEARING

INSPECTION

Turn the bearing while applying force in the axial direction. If the bearing sticks or has excessive resistance, replace it.

Clutch cover inspection

  1. 1
    Inspect the contact surface of the clutch disc for scoring, cracks, and burning, repair or replace as necessary.
    Hand using emery paper / cloth on the contact surface of the clutch cover (pressure plate friction face) to remove minor scoring or burning.

    Inspect the contact surface of the clutch release bearing for wear and cracks.
  3. 3
    If there is wear or cracks, replace the clutch cover.

    Inspect the lining surface for burning and oil contamination. Replace the clutch disc if it is badly burned or oil soaked.

    Inspect for loose facing rivets or torsion rubbers. Replace the clutch disc if any are loose.
