IGNITION SYSTEM — IGNITION COIL
G-21prose procedureIGNITION COIL
Inspection
Ignition coil inspection
- 1Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
- 2Check for voltage at the positive (+) terminal of the ignition coil connector with the ignition switch in the ON position. Voltage: Approx. 12V
05U0GX-047 - 3If there is no voltage check the main fuse, ignition switch, and wire harness.
Primary coil winding
Measure resistance of the primary coil winding of each coil with an ohmmeter.
If not within specification, replace the coil.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Primary coil winding resistanceat 20°C [68°F] | 0.78—0.94Ω |

Secondary coil winding
Measure resistance of the secondary coil winding of each coil with an ohmmeter.
If not within specification, replace the coil.

Replacement
Ignition coil replacement
- 1Disconnect the high tension-leads and ignition coil connector.
- 2Remove the installation bolts and the ignition coil.
05U0GX-051 - 3Install in the reverse order of removal. Tightening torque: 19—25 N·m (1.9—2.6 m-kg, 14—19 ft-lb)
