Coil spring

Coil spring - Disassembly note

    Loosen the piston rod upper nut several turns, but do not remove the nut.
    Do not remove the nut.
    Use copper or aluminum plates in the jaws of the vise.
    Shock absorber held in a vise; piston rod upper nut being loosened a few turns with a wrench/socket.

    Assemble the SST.
    Coil spring compressed in vise with SST 49 G034 1A0 components labelled (49 G034 102 screw, 49 G034 103 arm, 49 G034 101 body). Upper nut being removed with wrench.

    Compress the coil spring with the SST, and remove the upper nut.
  4. 4
    Remove the coil spring.

    Set the shock absorber in a vise.
  2. 2
    Install the bound stopper on the shock absorber as shown.
    Bound stopper installation orientation on the shock absorber piston rod. Shows correct seated position of BOUND STOPPER on SHOCK ABSORBER.

    Install the compressed coil spring (compressed with SST).
    Compressed coil spring being installed onto the shock absorber using SST 49 G034 1A0 components (49 G034 102 screw, 49 G034 103 arm, 49 G034 101 body).

    Install the mounting plate.
  5. 5
    Remove the SST.
  6. 6
    Secure the mounting plate in a vise.
    Use copper or aluminum plates in the jaws of the vise.
  7. 7
    Tighten the piston rod upper nut.
