Upper Arm - Removal / Inspection / Installation

    Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
  2. 2
    Remove the undercover.
  3. 3
    Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
    Exploded view of front upper arm assembly. Numbered callouts (1) wheel and tire, (2) upper arm ball joint (REPLACE / SST), (3) shock absorber bolt, (4) upper arm bushing (front and rear) - PARAFFIN BASED RUBBER OIL (SUNPAR 107 OR EQUIVALENT), (5) ball joint dust boot (REPLACE), (6) upper arm (REPLACE). Torque values annotated in N-m (m-kg, ft-lb).

    Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.

    Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.
  6. 6
    Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torques, referring to the figure.
    Loosely tighten the upper arm and shock absorber bolts. Lower the vehicle and tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torques with the vehicle unladed.

    Adjust the front wheel alignment. (Refer to page R-6.)
