    Measure the clearance between hub sleeve and shift fork.
    Hands using a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the clutch hub sleeve and the shift fork.

Synchronizer ring

Synchronizer ring inspection

    Inspect the individual synchronizer ring teeth for wear and cracks.

    Inspect the taper surface for wear and cracks.
  3. 3
    Measure the clearance between synchronizer ring and flank surface of gear.
    Set the synchronizer ring squarely in the gear; then measure around the circumference.
    Hands using a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the synchronizer ring and the flank surface of the gear, with the synchronizer ring seated squarely on the gear.
