    Insert the spring and ball (5th/Reverse) into the bearing housing.
    Two coil springs side-by-side, labeled 'FOR SHIFT ROD (5TH AND REVERSE)' on the left and 'OTHERS' on the right, illustrating the two types of springs that must not be confused.

    Press the spring and ball (5th/Reverse) with a screwdriver and the SST to install the shift rod.
    Hand using SST 49 0187 451A with a screwdriver to press the spring and ball (5th/Reverse) into the bearing housing to install the shift rod. Tool number 49 0187 451A is labeled.

Shift fork and rod

Install the 5th/Reverse shift fork and 5th/Reverse shift rod into the bearing housing.

Interlock pin

  1. 1
    Position the interlock pin into the bearing housing with the SST.
    Installing the interlock pin into the bearing housing using SSTs 49 0187 451A and 49 0862 350. Both tool numbers are labeled in the figure.

    Verify that the interlock pin is correctly installed.
