Locknut (Countershaft)

  1. 1
    Shift the clutch hub sleeves to 1st gear and reverse gear to put the gears in a double-engaged condition.
    Bearing housing assembly with clutch hub sleeves engaged in 1st gear and reverse gear positions (double-engaged condition). Arrows indicate the direction to shift each sleeve. Label points to BEARING HOUSING.

  2. 2
    Connect the SST to the mainshaft and tighten it securely in a vise.
    SST (part 49 0259 440) connected to the mainshaft and held in a vise, used to tighten a new locknut on the countershaft.

    Tighten a new locknut.
  4. 4
    Use a chisel to stake the locknut.
Tightening torque (countershaft locknut)
1255 - 1922N·m
