EMERGENCY LOCKING RETRACTOR (ELR)

Inspection

ELR Inspection

  1. 1
    Verify that the belt can be pulled out smoothly, and that it moves smoothly when worn.

    Verify that the retractor locks when the belt is quickly pulled.
  3. 3
    Remove the retractor.
  4. 4
    Hold the retractor as it would be installed.

    Slowly incline the retractor while pulling out the belt.
  6. 6
    Verify that the retractor locks at approx. 30 degrees inclination.

WEBBING

Inspection

Inspect the webbing for scars, tears, and wear and for deformation of the fittings.

BUCKLE SWITCH

  1. 1
    Disconnect the seatbelt buckle switch connector.

    Check continuity of the switch.

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
