AIR CONDITIONER
U-31prose procedurePerformance test (continued)
- 10Read the dry thermometer at the air outlet, and calculate the difference between the inlet dry bulb and outlet dry bulb temperatures.
- 11Verify that the intersection of the relative humidity and temperature difference is in the shaded zone.
96U16X-103
Checking refrigerant charge
- 1Run the engine at a fast idle.
- 2Operate the air conditioner at maximum cooling for a few minutes.
- 3Determine the amount of refrigerant as shown below by observing the sight glass.
9MU0UX-139
Refrigerant charge sight-glass diagnosis
1
SymptomBubbles present in sight glass
Amount of refrigerantInsufficient refrigerant
ActionCheck refrigerant pressure
2
SymptomNo bubbles present in sight glass
Amount of refrigerantToo much or proper amount of refrigerant
ActionTurn air conditioner off, and watch bubbles (Refer to items 3 and 4)
3
SymptomImmediately after air conditioner turned off, refrigerant in sight glass stays clear
Amount of refrigerantToo much refrigerant
ActionCheck refrigerant pressure
4
SymptomWhen air conditioner turned OFF, refrigerant foams, and then sight glass becomes clear
Amount of refrigerantProper amount of refrigerant
ActionRefrigerant amount normal
Checking refrigerant pressure
- 1Connect the manifold gauge set. (Refer to page U-28.)
05U0UX-052 - 2Operate the engine at 1,500 rpm and set the air conditioner to maximum cooling.
- 3Measure the low- and high-pressure sides.
| Specification | Value |
