A/C RELAY

Inspection

A/C Relay Inspection

  1. 1
    Check continuity between terminals of the relay.
    A/C relay continuity test setup using an ohmmeter. The meter's leads are connected to relay terminals to check continuity between specific terminal pairs (a-b and others labeled c, d, e, f).

    If not as specified, replace the relay.
  3. 3
    If correct, go to the next step.
  4. 4
    Apply 12V to terminal d and ground terminal a.
    A/C relay test with 12V applied to terminal d and ground at terminal a, then continuity checked at the upper face of the relay between terminals c, e, and f using an ohmmeter. A battery is shown connected to the relay.

    Check continuity between terminals of the relay.
  6. 6
    If not as specified, replace the relay.

REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SWITCH

Inspection

Refrigerant Pressure Switch Inspection

  1. 1
    Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. 2
    Connect the manifold gauge set and measure the high-pressure side refrigerant pressure.
    Manifold gauge set with two pressure gauges (low-pressure and high-pressure) connected to the refrigerant system for measuring high-pressure side refrigerant pressure.

    If not as specified, check the refrigerant system. (Refer to page U-12.)
  4. 4
    If correct, go to the next step.
  5. 5
    Disconnect the refrigerant pressure switch connector.
  6. 6
    Check for continuity of the switch.
    Refrigerant pressure switch continuity check using an ohmmeter connected to terminals a and b of the disconnected switch connector.

    If not as specified, replace the switch and the suction pipe.
High-pressure side
Above 216 kPa (2.2 kg/cm², 31.2 psi)
