Magnetic clutch

Magnetic Clutch Disassembly

  1. 1
    Hold the clutch with the SST and remove the shaft nut.
    Technician using SST (special service tool) 00007 10331 wrench to hold the magnetic clutch assembly while another wrench removes the central shaft nut.

    Remove the pressure plate with the SST.
    Technician using SST 4992-02-020 (pressure-plate puller) threaded into the clutch hub to extract the pressure plate from the compressor.

    Remove the shims.
    Removing the shims from the compressor shaft after the pressure plate is off; hand shown lifting the shim stack with the rotor still in place.

    Remove the snap ring.
    Snap-ring pliers being used to remove the snap ring retaining the rotor to the compressor.

    Remove the rotor by tapping it with a plastic hammer.
    Do not damage the pulley when tapping the rotor.
    Using a plastic hammer to lightly tap the rotor off the compressor shaft. The pulley is visible adjacent to the rotor and must not be damaged during this operation.
