Injector removal

  1. 1
    Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

    Remove the air valve. (Refer to page F-98.)
  3. 3
    Remove the PCV hose.
  4. 4
    Disconnect the vacuum hose.
  5. 5
    Disconnect the injector connectors.
  6. 6
    Remove the delivery pipe and the pressure regulator.

    Remove the grommets, injectors, and insulators.

Inspection

Fuel leakage test

  1. 1
    Remove the air valve.
  2. 2
    Firmly affix the injectors to the delivery pipe with wire.

    Disconnect the injector connectors.
  4. 4
    Remove the delivery pipe and injectors together with the fuel hoses connected.
  5. 5
    Connect diagnosis connector terminals (F/P) and (GND) with a jumper wire.

    Turn the ignition switch ON.
  7. 7
    Tilt the injectors approx. 60 degrees and verify that no fuel leaks from the injector nozzles.
    After 1 minute a drop of fuel from the injector is acceptable.

    If fuel leaks from an injector, replace it.
  9. 9
    Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the jumper wire.
