DESCRIPTION

The deceleration control system consists of the fuel cut operation and the dashpot.
1. Dashpot: To prevent the throttle valves from suddenly closing.
2. Fuel cut: To improve the fuel economy and to prevent engine bucking during deceleration.

  1. 1
    Open the throttle valve fully. Push the dashpot rod with a finger and verify that it goes into the dashpot slowly.

    Release the rod and check that it comes out quickly.
  3. 3
    Replace the dashpot if necessary.
  4. 4
    Warm up the engine and run it at idle.

    Connect a tachometer to the engine, and increase the engine speed to 4,000 rpm.
  6. 6
    Slowly decrease the engine speed and check that the lever touches the dashpot rod as specified.
    Specification: 2,500 ± 150 rpm
  7. 7
    If not as specified, loosen the locknut and turn the dashpot to adjust.
