Timing belt pulley

Timing belt pulley removal

    Remove the timing belt pulley.
    Removing the timing belt pulley with a steering wheel puller. Shows puller arms on the pulley at the engine front.

    Remove the pulley Woodruff key.

Oil seal

Oil seal removal

    Cut the oil seal lip with a razor knife.

    Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver protected with a rag.

    Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the lip of a new oil seal.
  2. 2
    Push the oil seal slightly in by hand.
  3. 3
    Tap the oil seal in evenly with a suitable pipe and a hammer.
    The oil seal must be tapped in until it is flush with the edge of the oil pump body.

    Install the timing belt pulley.
  2. 2
    Install the pulley Woodruff key with the tapered side toward the oil pump body.

    Install the pulley lock bolt.
  2. 2
    Tighten the pulley lock bolt using the SST.
    Tightening the pulley lock bolt using SSTs 49 B011 102 and 49 S120 710 to hold the timing belt pulley.

Steps After Installation

  1. 1
    Install the under cover.
  2. 2
    Fill the radiator with the specified amount and type of engine coolant. (Refer to page E-5.)
  3. 3
    Connect the negative battery cable.
  4. 4
    Start the engine and check as follows: (1) Engine coolant leakage. (2) Ignition timing. (Refer to page B-8.)
  5. 5
    Recheck the engine coolant levels.
