ENGINE TUNE-UP PROCEDURE

B-6prose procedure

P/S and A/C equipped variants have different belt routings.

Drive belt deflection

  1. 4
Check the drive belt deflection by applying moderate pressure (98 N, 10 kg, 22 lb) midway between the pulleys, as shown. Adjust if necessary.
Drive belt routing diagram for P/S or P/S + A/C EQUIPPED vehicles. Shows pulleys: ALTERNATOR (top-left), P/S (top-right), CRANKSHAFT (center-bottom), A/C (right-bottom) with arrows indicating measurement points between alternator-crankshaft and crankshaft-P/S.

Tension check

  1. 5
Check the drive belt tension with the SST (tension gauge).
Belt tension can be measured between any pulleys.
