Timing Belt Pulley

  1. 1
    Reverse the direction of the SST on the flywheel.
    Flywheel with the SST (49 E301 060) attached, used to hold the flywheel/crankshaft. Label '49 E301 060' is visible on the tool.

    Install the timing belt pulley.
    Timing belt pulley (camshaft pulley) with the Woodruff key visible. 'TAPER' label points to the tapered side of the Woodruff key, which should face the oil pump body.

    Install the pulley Woodruff key with the tapered side toward the oil pump body.
  4. 4
    Install the pulley lock bolt.
  5. 5
    Tighten the pulley lock bolt.

108 - 118N·m

Idler

  1. 1
    Install the idler.
    Tensioner and idler pulleys installed on the engine. Labels 'TENSIONER' and 'IDLER' identify each pulley with arrows.

Tensioner and Tensioner Spring

  1. 1
    Install the tensioner and the tensioner spring.
  2. 2
    Temporarily secure the tensioner with the spring fully extended.

Timing Belt

  1. 1
    Turn the crankshaft and align the timing belt pulley mark with the timing mark.
    Crankshaft timing belt pulley with timing mark aligned. Label 'TIMING MARK' with a downward arrow points to the alignment mark on the pulley.

    Verify that the camshaft pulley marks are aligned with the seal plate marks.
    Caution: For intake side, align the E mark.
    Caution: For exhaust side, align the I mark.
    Both camshaft pulleys (intake and exhaust) viewed from the front, showing the timing mark alignment. The intake pulley E mark and exhaust pulley I mark must align with the seal plate marks.
