Disassembly Note

Flywheel

  1. 1
    Hold the flywheel with the SST.
    Flywheel held in place with SST 49 E301 060 engaged in the ring gear teeth to prevent rotation while removing the flywheel lock bolts.

    Remove the flywheel lock bolts.
  3. 3
    Remove the flywheel.

Oil pan

  1. 1
    Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.
  2. 2
    Insert a screwdriver or a suitable tool only at the points shown in the figure.
    Do not force a prying tool between the cylinder block and the oil pan, which may damage the contact surfaces.
    Do not damage or scratch the contact surfaces when removing the old sealant.
    Oil pan removal — engine block inverted with a screwdriver/prying tool inserted at one of the indicated points between the cylinder block and the oil pan to break the sealant bond.

    Remove the oil pan.

Oil pan baffle

  1. 1
    Insert a screwdriver or a suitable tool between the cylinder block and the baffle to separate them.
    Do not bend the baffle when prying it loose.

    Remove the baffle.

Front oil seal

  1. 1
    Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver protected with a rag.

Rear oil seal

  1. 1
    Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver protected with a rag.
