AIR BAG SYSTEM

The system diagram is as shown in figure. The battery, S-sensor, air bag module, and D-sensors are connected is series via diagnostic module. When the S-sensor and one of the D-sensors are activated (closed) simultaneously, electric current flows to trigger the igniter in the air bag module. The backup battery supplies the current to trigger the igniter if the battery or fuses fail during a collision. The diagnostic module is fitted to monitor the system for failures. It warns the driver of such by illuminating or flashing the air bag warning lamp.
