Step 4 — Back-up light switch continuity

  1. 1
    Disconnect the back-up light switch connectors.
    Back-up light switch installation on transmission shown with continuity tester (ohmmeter) connected to terminals labeled 'b' and 'a' on the switch connector.

    Check continuity between terminals of the switch with the transmission in reverse.

Step 4 — Continuity vs. action

Removal / Installation

Remove and install as shown in the figure.

  1. 1
    Disconnect the back-up light switch connectors.
    Back-up light switch inspection — switch mounted on transmission with ohmmeter leads connected to terminals 'b' and 'a' for continuity check.

    Check continuity between terminals of the switch as shown.
  3. 3
    If not as specified, replace the switch.
