Headlight retractor motor does not operate (one side)

  1. 1
    Retract the not working headlight fully using the manual knob. Disconnect the retractor motor connector of the faulty side. Turn on the headlight switch and retractor switch. Check the voltage at the following terminal-wires of the retractor motor connector.
    Voltmeter test setup at the retractor motor connector of the faulty side. The disconnected connector at top-left has the (R/Y) wire callout. Illustrates Step 1 voltage measurement.

    Check for continuity between terminal-wire (B) of the faulty retractor motor connector and a body ground.
    Continuity test setup at the retractor motor connector. The disconnected connector at top-left shows the (B) wire callout; the ohmmeter is connected between connector terminal and body ground. Illustrates Step 2 continuity check.

Retractor indicator lamp correction procedure

  1. 1
    Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the negative battery cable or remove RETRACTOR 30A fuse in the main fuse block.
    Obtain the code number and deactive the audio anti-theft function before disconnecting the battery. (Refer to page T—113.)
  3. 3
    Raise or lower the headlight by turing the emergency retractor knob.
  4. 4
    Remove the obstruction.
  5. 5
    After verifying that the headlight switch and the retractor switch are OFF, reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6. 6
    Verify operation of the headlight retractor and the retractor indicator lamp.
